In April I ran a promotion for Arbor Day where patrons received a free seedling tree when they checked out materials from a themed-display. I created the display signs and 50 small tickets to insert in books and DVDs. I found materials from every library department (Juniors, Adults, AV, foreign language) as well as many different genres of books to display in our main reading room. "Bare Root" trees are practically indistinguishable from dead twigs, so I created a small insert that explained dormant trees and how to plant them. Using gallon-size baggies from the Dollar Store, I put each of 50 trees in a bag with insert to distribute to patrons. Including materials and printing costs, the program cost about $50, and by the end of the weekend we had distributed every tree.
