  1. (1664) Shows the general dimensions of the land parcel granted to William Hallett by Director-General Peter Stuyvesant
  2. (1839) Astoria Village was formally incorporated via state charter on April 12, 1838. The full text of the charter, including dimensions is reprinted in Kelsey’s History of Long Island City, New York
  3. (1855) 16 years after incorporation, the Village of Astoria petitioned for a new charter expanding the city boundaries.
  4. (1870) The area informally known as Long Island City was formally consolidated in 1870, absorbing the Village of Astoria and 8 surrounding hamlets. The new city was split into 5 wards – Hunter’s Point, Blissville, Ravenswood, Astoria, and Bowery Bay.
